Yesterday was more like March than May.  I dug dandelions and spread compost.  With the heavy rain and winds coming I decided not to plant flowers until after the storm.  I'll just keep preparing the beds.  With Bekah's help I hung the fuchsias on the barn.
Darel got the top spot for accomplishments yesterday.  He not only built another display bench but tore down an eyesore.  Years ago a set of stairs was built to a haymow for a June wedding that included dancing in the empty haymow.  For years the stairs made going up to the hay mow for hay easy.  Then the weather began to take its toll on the stairs.  Five years or so ago they were closed off, declared unsafe.  Tearing the falling staircase down went on the list.  Finally Darel, with some help, tore them down.  They had become an eyesore!
The orioles are still around.  Once in a while they come to the feeder.  I wonder if the hummingbirds bother them.  We have so many hummingbirds, in the back of the house, in front of the house and in the nursery.  We still have lots of finches, the dandelions haven't gone to seed yet.  Only local red winged blackbirds and a few grackles.
Gilbert mowed the town ballfied yesterday.  The grass loves this weather!  I don't know what happened to the business contracted to mow it.  Ticks like long grass.  The kids first game was last night.
May your day be blessed, Sally
