Yesterday was a long, productive day.  I came in the house at 8:30 last night, everyone else was still outside finishing up before the rain.  One of the things they were doing was loading the pickup with brush from the kitchen garden.  A heaped up load, it will have to be tied down.  I'd been nibbling at the edges but yesterday Maegin and I got serious.  I pruned around the perennials.  I cut most of the forsythia down, Maegin finished it.  The branches never came back up after the storm.  Every place a branch was touching the ground it was rooting.  There was a plus this spring, all the branches were protected from cold winds by snow so it was gorgeous when it bloomed.  The bamboo is trying to take over, half the truck load is bamboo.  I cut back the pagoda dogwood, some of its branches were over my lilies.  The honeysuckle is in bloom.  Alive even though most of it is horizontal instead of vertical.
There are usually a few finches at the feeders but not the 50 or 60 there were.  The dandelions are going to seed.  I'm not having to make hummingbird food every day because so many plants are blooming.
The flower bed under the get together room windows is planted and mulched.  I am thankful that I could plant it this year!  I'm also thankful that last year when I couldn't Rachael and Evan planted it.  Andrew and Gayle gave me a walker with a seat on it.  The seat works great for carrying buckets of mulch!  Maegin bought me buckets but whenever I ran out I could just go get more.  They were loading hay when I finished mulching, it was nice to just be able to go get some.
The nursery was very busy, they didn't get as much vegetable planting done as they had hoped, but they are very happy with their sales.  This morning Bekah and Doug are delivering hay.  When Bekah gets back Jay will take that pickup load of brush to the dump.  He has to get the new beehive put together too.
May your day be blessed, Sally
