Yesterday's warmer temperatures and careful attention to the fires made it so we got up to a warm house this morning. The chickens have rooms in the horse barn. I'm hoping they warmed up too .Bekah is having to give them fresh water about three times a day plus going out with the teakettle of hot water. Bekah has been concerned there would be damp off of the seedlings in the laundry room. I think running the air purifier in there for the skunk smell moves enough air to help. Once we switch to the greenhouse there are fans on the seedlings. The east breeze comes across the fields with nothing to slow it down before it hits the house. The new greenhouse will be sheltered from the east by the old greenhouse.
Heather and Mike came out yesterday. Heather and Bekah went over the budget. No income and lots of money going out means careful attention and planning. Especially this year with the money being spent to get the new greenhouse up and running. Bekah and Jay are having to be very frugal to make sure there is enough money. Why Mike was here he made a little set of shelves for the dishes Ruby got for her 2ed birthday last week. She was right into lining the little dishes up on the little shelves. These kids are blessed with lots of Uncles and Great Uncles who love kids..
Flower Heather planted nearly a hundred bareroots of ranunculus yesterday, They are crowded now but will be moving out to the greenhouse when they start to grow. She is starting flowers at her house and here. As soon as the greenhouse fires start she will move them to it. Darel built her a greenhouse last summer. As the greenhouse gets crowded she will move to her greenhouse. And Bekah will move plants to her new greenhouse. Heather wants to be able to offer bouquets earlier this year. Besides having more hanging baskets Bekah wants to have more flower seedlings that can be planted early like the pansies. With the new greenhouse Bekah hopes to avoid running out of pepper plants and marigolds.
Having two granddaughters named Heather involved in the greenhouse is confusing. "Flower" Heather is married to grandson Darel and raises flowers. Both Darel and Heather help Bekah and Jay. The other Heather grew up helping me in the greenhouse and does the books.
I have to go feed the birds and fill their heated water. More and more birds are coming to the feeders. Bekah already got rid of the ice and gave the chickens fresh water.
May your day be blessed. Sally
