12/1/24 First Sunday in Advent
Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4

We got power back mid day yesterday. The Internet took a while longer. A large branch came off the pine tree, plus several smaller branches. My shrubs in the kitchen garden are flat. The honeysuckle bush trunks were about three inches in diameter snapped off. The ten foot William Buffin rose is bent to three feet. It doesn't look like the snow is going to melt off it so there will be lots of pruning in the spring. The mock orange and winter berries are laid over. Some of the French pussy willow snapped. The new greenhouse was totally closed in by dinner time Thursday, both greenhouses came through the storm fine.
The girls got a lot more wreath orders so they have spent the last few days in the old greenhouse making wreaths. Or traipsing through the heavy snow to cut tips off snow covered trees. The snow made a mess of the display area but Jay and Bekah have it all fixed up. As always the Christmas trees are beautiful this year.
Doug has spent the last few days fixing fence. Thankful that none of the just weaned calves got back to their Mothers. The bawling of calves and bellowing of their mothers has simmered down. Some of those calves were so big they had to get on their knees to nurse.
Since the Lord dropped pine boughs right here in the yard I decided I was supposed to put some in the church sign box with big bows wired on. I did that late yesterday. The inside is all decorated for today, the first Sunday in Advent. Now the signbox is festive too. Church this morning, setting up my outside nativities this afternoon. The cords are all run, the nativities are here in the get to gather room. May God bless you on this day as we light the candle of love, preparing our hearts for the celebration of Christ's birth., Sally
