Darel spent most of yesterday watching TV with the air conditioner on. I wasn't even finished supper dishes before he was headed to the truck ready to get out of the house for a ride and a stop at the Creamery. He was afraid I'd get started freezing strawberries and wouldn't want to go. A valid concern!
I froze 5 quarts of berries. I gave Tammara a quart. Darel has had strawberry short cake every day the last five days and i froze five quarts the other night and gave Tammara some. My little patch is doing ok. I'm going to have to dig dandelions out of it but for now they may be helping keep the blackbirds from seeing the berries.
i have some patches of weeds at the ends of row that need pulled but my garden is pretty weed free. Free enough so I won't be thinking i should do some weeding tomorrow. I have two patches of nettles. They have to be cut down by hand. I'll do that Friday. I've save some heavy cardboard to put over them and will put hay on the cardboard.
Tammara transplanted the fall broccoli yesterday. I'm going to seed lettuce for fall plants today. Summer finally gets here and we are making fall plans. I'd rather not think about fall or shorter days! We are moving the mums along side the greenhouse where it will be easier to water them with liquid fertiziler. And when we did that last year people started buying them.
I'm happy to see a haying forecast even though it means watering in the nursery. I'm going to work in my own flowers today why Tammera waters. She'll soak everything in hopes that i don't have to water tomorrow. Have a good day, Sally
