Darel had a comfortable day yesterday.  The heat and humidity keeps him in the air conditioned front room.  When the nursery closes at 5:30 he wants to get in the air conditioned truck for a change of scenery.  Last night he had a grinder from Countryside for supper and we meant Heather and Mike at the Creamery.
I got the blueberries picked yesterday but not the raspberries.  I was stressing out over them going to waste when a neighbor stopped in.  She said she'd love to have them.  So last night she came up and picked them.  I had a couple of customers that spent quite awhile here.  They were both making plans for landscaping a new area and were happy to include the needs of pollinators in their plans.  I gave them some dill and parsley.  They aren't flowers but go well in a flower garden and are loved by lots of pollinators and butterflies.  I sold out of butterfly weed but i have lots of tall milkweed that goes well in the back of the flower garden to plant for the monarchs.  I also have lots of butterfly bushes.  Purple , the only ones that winter well here.  I also have lots of white phlox, they go so well together and both are loved by pollinators and butterflies.
If there are breaks in the rain we will weed today.  Otherwise we will prune the tomatoes in the hoop house and work on next years orders.  Have a good day, Sally
