Some clouds Wednesday with a WNW breeze, a high of 9, a gentle NW breeze, and a low of-2. An inch or so of snow Thursday afternoon with a stiff north breeze, a high of 14 and a low of -4. Some clouds next Friday with a stiff WNW breeze, a high of 2 and a low of -13. Partly cloudy next Saturday with a NW breeze, a high of 2 and a low of -10. Still some clouds and a WNW breeze next Sunday with a high of 9 and a low of -1. Warming up to seasonable January temperatures the week of the 8th.
Darel had a quiet comfortable day. Grand daughters Rachael and Sally Jo came by to "chill" with him for awhile. Then they went shopping with Lexi. Probably weren't too bothered by crowds.
I finished redoing the mailing list. Now i have to write the winter letter. Thought about it but seemed to have a brain freeze yesterday. I keep thawed water in front of the hens and took them some grain soaked in hot water . I also gave them a half bale of straw, I'll give them the other half today. Doug has switched to some of his good hay for the cows and is giving them all they want, abut a bale a day. Houses and barns should be warmer with less wind today. Several people have had their oil jell with the cold temperatures. Less wind won't help that.
When my children were little we had flannel lined pants and long johns. I used to pull Darel's monkey work socks over their shoes and socks. Sometimes two pair on the little ones. They wore t-shirts, flannel shirts and sweat shirts. They were warm and seldom sick. Schools are too warm for kids to dress like that now even lots of homes are chilly.
Raymond Freeman was here yesterday. It was good to hear him saying what I've been saying all week: "When we have winter in winter we don't have it when we should be having spring."
Keep warm, Sally
