Darel had a good day yesterday, well sort of. We went to Rachael's soccer semifinal game and her team lost.
Our winter squash have been inside for ages but not washed and put away. We always stored them in milk crates in the corner behind Darel's chair. No room now with the hospital bed. Yesterday I finally washed them with a Clorox solution (1part Clorox to 9 parts water) dried them and they are here in the get together room next to the little plastic dresser that holds doll clothes. Probably a little over 50 degrees but I store pumpkin near there under the shelves and it does ok.
Headlines in the paper: "Where have all the birds gone?" so my birds aren't the only ones finding natural feed so plentiful that they aren't bothering to come to the feeders. They were coming for water but there is plenty of water with the 4 and a half inches of rain we got. Monday's storm is forecast to add another inch. only one corner of the window screen is covered with flies this morning. Maybe our fly infestation is about over. A friend in LaGrange caught their 17th skunk in the live trap yesterday. To add insult to injury a fisher got into their chickens. Tore the wire up to get in. A neighbor has lost chickens to a fisher, Doug has lost a few cats but i've never had a problem.
Darel's permit to hunt from the truck has not come. I think he is going to try sitting up in the corner of the field in his wheelchair this afternoon. he'll dress warm but he gets cold easy. It isn't far from the house, he can call me if he gets cold.
Have a good day, Sally
