10/24/17
Don't search for happiness.  Create it.

57 degrees with clouds and fog.  Showers late this afternoon with a stiff SSE breeze and a high of 66. Rain tonight with SSE winds and a low of 64.   One to two inches of rain tomorrow with south winds and a high of 66.  Rain tomorrow night with strong SSE breezes, perhaps an inch.  A low of 57.  Steady rain Thursday well into the evening totaling another inch, with the south breeze becoming more westerly Thursday night. Thursday's high will be 62 with a low of 44.  Sunny Friday and Saturday with highs about 60 and lows about 40.  Friday's west breeze will become SE as more rain approaches.  Some clouds Sunday with an ESE breeze, a high of 60 and a low of 52.  A half inch of rain Monday with ESE winds.  Pleasant the middle of next week with showers Thursday and Friday.  Pleasant the weekend of the 4th and 5th with showers to start the work week.  highs will be in the fifties for the period with lows in the upper thirties.
Another quiet day, Quiet enough so Darel wanted to go for an ice cream cone in the afternoon.
Flies and more flies.  And we are being careful to shut the doors behind us!  We have fly swatters all over the house.  The windows upstairs are covered with flies.  The warm weather must be hatching out one that had hidden away for next spring.
Yesterday we were laying cardboard for mulch from a pile stored by the garden.  It was full of squash bugs.  As many as I killed there should be fewer of them next spring!  We pulled some weeds and mulched the corner garden.  In the process we cleaned up the hay spilled by the hay crew in front of the horse barn.  Worms were working on getting rid of the hay from the bottom.  The chickens got their protein for the week.  We also banked the east side of the house.
We  cut down the morning glories.  Today we'll pull the flowers under the kitchen window and bank the north side of the house.  I hate pulling the flowers but it doesn't make sense to bank the house when it is cold and windy.  I'll still have the flowers on the south side of the house.
     Have a good day, Sally
