Although we tried to concentrate on just being thankful that Keith is such a fine man and how blessed we are that  even though our oldest two sons live in Alaska they made sure to get home for a visit there were tears when Keith left.  Darel sept much of the day, tired from the good weekend.   Friends visited late in the day, lifting his spirits.
Sightings of Monarch butterflies indicate there are more of them.  It is beloved that the many gardeners who have planted patches of milkweed in their gardens are making a difference.  I carry the orange milkweed, known as butterfly weed because butterflies are so drawn to it and Soulmate.  Soulmate is a stately, back of the border milkweed with pink umbels.  Plants in the milkweed family are the only food Monarch caterpillars eat.  To encourage people to plant a patch for the Monarchs i am selling three or more plants for just $5.99 each the rest of the summer.
Yesterday Jordn and i worked on the corer.  Weeds and bamboo quickly took advantage of my neglect.  I was tired and Jordn wanted to get the lawns mowed before it rained so we didn't get it all mulched.  But we will.  This morning why no bees are flying i'm going to go get rids of some tall weeds growing by the beehives.  This spring Gilbert planted some Jewel blackberries for me.  Next to the garlic.  The plan was that I would mulch where the garlic was after it was pulled to give more space to the berries.  Mulching them will be next.
       Have a good day, Sally
