8/23/17
Anxiety is one of the fruits of ingratitude.

No rain last night.  If the forecast holds true we are looking at a very dry upcoming two weeks.  Cloudy now, 69 with a light SW breeze.  Sunny later with a stiff WSW breeze, a high of 80 and a low of 53 tonight.  Mostly sunny tomorrow with a west breeze, a high of 77 and a low of 51.  Partly cloudy Friday and the weekend with highs about 72 and lows about 50.  Brisk NW breezes Friday and Saturday, a NE breeze Sunday.  Pleasant next week with mostly WSW breezes, highs in the upper seventies and lows in the low to mid fifties.    After a pleasant Labor Day weekend there is a possibility of showers Tuesday, Sept. 5th.
A very quiet day yesterday.  Darel joined us in the garage, where it was cooler, for supper.
We counted 18 gold finch and one purple finch on the feeders why Darel was eating breakfast.  With the dry forecast i will have to make sure the hummingbird feeders are clean with food and the bird waters have fresh water.  Even though there is the fire pond across the road and the garden ponds we find the birds come to the waterers a lot when it is dry.  The bees like fresh water right outside their hive.
A few blooms are showing on the mums.  I am not ready for next weekend to be Labor Day weekend.  Living is so easy in the summer.  Fall will come ready or not.  I'll try to seed some lettuce this week why it is cooler.  We've potted up some geraniums for winter windows.  I'd like to get some herbs ready for winter windowsills too.
I'm still weeding and mulching if i have a spare moment.  I spotted some bull thistles.  Today I'm going to cut them down and cover the heads with rotten hay so they don't mature.  Darel is all set for the day.  the sun is coming out.  time to get going.  Have a good day, Sally
