.Heather , Bekah and I spent yesterday afternoon going over orders and planning the budget for the next five months. Bekah says she finds all the costs involved in getting ready for the 2024 season scary! I told her, "I know just how you feel. Even though I had the greenhouse for 19 years I still felt the same." Scared but excited. Country Junction will be celebrating twenty years this spring. I smile as I watch Bekah getting spring fever, as I see her excitement over the green showing in the germination trays. She Is counting the days until we start the greenhouse fires and the boxes of plus and cutting start arriving. Jay is already planning how he can best display all the plants that will be arriving at the end of April. Seeds and supplies like Coast of Maine products come the first week in April.
We got notice that Gilbert's carrot and cucumber seeds were shipped. We have a calendar with what we plant each week written in. The goal is to have enough self discipline not to plant early. Especially Gilbert and Jay as they compete to see who will have what first in their vegetable garden.. Heather is so anxious to start making bouquets! She has planted a lot of flower seeds. She will plant them in the garden under plastic for an early start.
"Heather" is confusing as we have two Heather's. Becha's sister Heather is an accountant. She has kept my books for me for years and now she is helping Bekah. I could not have succeeded with the greenhouse without her keeping track and her advice. Sister in law Heather grows beautiful flowers and is always glad to help in the greenhouse. When you go to a local restaurant in the summer there is a good chance that she made the bouquet in the middle of the table. Sister Heather not only does the books but on busy days you'll often find her at the register in the store.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
