Early yesterday morning Doug came over to tell us a neighbor's eighteen year old daughter had died in an accident.  Neighbors we care about and Mary was friends with our grand daughters.  And Mary worked at the Creamery.  Scott and Shari care so much for the kids that work there that they are a "family".  I was able to work all day, tears or not.  All Darel could do was sit and stare at the TV.  I'm sure he has no idea what he watched.  In the evening we went to Millers, Darel had planned to see Rob but so many people were there he decided it best not to try to navigate the driveway, there will be other days.  We went to the Creamery.  No more friendly bickering between the girls as to who would get Darel his ice cream.
I thought i got every single burdock cut down yesterday until i went to pick cucumbers and squash.  There was one more hiding in the blackberries.  now that the burdock is cut down i have to keep checking to snip off the regrowth.  Some of it I can mulch out of existence but burdock is tough.  it will push up through the mulch.
Today I'll be making sure all the plants are well watered for tomorrow's heat.  JR is coming up early to do some weed whacking for me.
Have a good day, Sally
