Darel had a pleasant day yesterday, ending it with a visit to the Creamery. Not many mums left but lots of vegetables left. I spent time refilling the garden from my garden and late afternoon Heather and Mike came with a load of vegetables from their garden. Some of our ripe tomatoes have green shoulders. I looked up the reason last night. Too much heat and/or too much direct sunlight. Tomatoes like hot weather but I guess it has to be just right!
I got some flower gardens weeded and watered. Thinking those gardens are good now until frost claims them.
I don't see any blueberries left on the plants. That means it is time to weed and mulch them. Mulching over any blueberries that may be on the ground prevents a disease called mummy berry. And I don't want the blueberry bushes sharing any nutrients or moisture with weeds.
The rest of the mums are starting to bloom, they should be beautiful the rest of the month and through October. They can take some frost. Mike is having a cookout here this afternoon to celebrate out anniversary. I'm hoping I'll be busy selling mums!
Have a great day, Sally
