3/14/18
The decisions we make when no one is looking determine our innermost character.

16-18 inches of heavy wet snow, still snowing, 30 degrees with a gentle east breeze.  Much less wind than forecast except for the beginning of the storm.  Enough wind so that I'm guessing at the snow depth.  3-5 more inches expected with a high of 35 and a low of 27 tonight.  NNW winds forecast today,  Cloudy tomorrow with a brisk NNW breeze, a high of 39 and a low of 23.  Partly cloudy Friday with a WNW wind, a high of 34 and a low of 11.  Sunny Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low twenties and lows about 7.  A NW wind Saturday will drop to a brisk breeze Sunday and Monday.  sunny Monday with a high of 29 and a low of 11.  Partly cloudy Tuesday with a NNW breeze, a high of 34 and a low of 22.  Snow showers Wednesday with a stiff north breeze, a high of 39 and a low of 22.  Partly cloudy next Thursday, a stiff north breeze,  with a high of 38 and a low of 23.  Mostly cloudy next Friday with a NNW breeze, a high of 39 and a low of 222.  Snow showers next weekend with NE breezes, highs of 39 and lows of 26.  Snow to rain the week of the 26th.
Darel had a good day.  Raymond Freeman was here quite awhile which helped the day go faster.  I got the heat mats set up and some peppers planted.  Planting will go fast with everything ready.  I'll be planting tomatoes for the hoop house and to give away May 5th, Open Greenhouse Day.  We did get all the plants out of the cellar before the snow started.  And made room for them in the greenhouse.
Gilbert plowed and bucketed at 10:30.  Thanks to the wind dying down The tractor could drove through the snow the rest o the night.  The snow came off the garage roof why I was in the greenhouse for the 2 AM fire feeding.  A lot of heavy wet snow but it only took me about twenty minutes to bucket out enough so I could drive in the garage.  The power went off a few times about four but came back on and is no longer flickering.
I've seen several flocks of grackles and blackbirds.  I wonder what this does to them.  None of the flocks found our feeders but we have two red winged blackbirds now.
      Have a good day, Sally
