Darel's pulse were high but he had a quiet day yesterday, probably quieter than he would have liked.  Today I'm going to try to fit in a fried chicken run.
I took advantage of yesterday's warmth and a bare roof to let the cook stove fire go out so we could clean the chimney.  It badly needed it.  The powder 'I've been putting in every few days is supposed to keep the creosote from burning.  Even so i sleep better with it all cleaned out.  There has been so much snow with ice this winter that the chimney hasn't been cleaned like it has been other winters.
I got the hoses out to run water.  Some of them needed new ends.  With no tea kettle of boiling water on the cook range I had to start the fire in the headhouse.  I stick the end of the hose in boiling water so I can slip the new ends in.  I was going to start the fire last night anyway.  Between cleaning the cook range and getting the hoses ready i didn't have time to run water.  Today's job.
Andrew showed up with a floor jack so he could reinstall the big stove in the greenhouse.  Over the years it had gotten out of kilter.  I started the fire  last night in a steady level stove with cleaned out stove pipe.  When i plugged it the fan behind it the fan made a horrible noise.  One of the blades was broke.  So I had to put in the fan from the garage that we run when we put in damp firewood. Getting started always seems to be one thing after another.  After Gilbert cleaned the chimney he filled all the soil barrels so I just have to add water today and we are ready to go.  The greenhouse temperature stayed at sixty all night.  Very good for the first night and only putting wood on every three and a half hours.  There is a lot of ground to heat up and sixty some bales of soil.
       Have a good day, Sally
